1) Davis® Reading Program for Young Learners

The Davis® Reading Program for Young Learners is an individualized learning enhancement program with a licensed and trained Davis Facilitator. Its mission is to give children aged 5-8 the best possible start at the outset of their learning career. Its aims are:

  • To provide lifelong learning skills to younger children through a partnership between Facilitator, child and parent(s)
  • To give one or both of the child’s parents, or a support person, sufficient confidence and skill to continue working with the Davis Young Learner’s Kit after the program
  • To provide children with the conceptual skills needed to develop reading fluency and comprehension.

2) Davis Dyslexia Correction Program®

The 30-hour program is delivered one-on-one over a 5-day week to children 8 years old and above, typically from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm with an hour break for lunch.

Initial Consultation and Assessment is preferably done at least a week ahead unless the client has to travel far. The Initial Consultation and Assessment usually takes approximately an hour.

What is involved?

The program includes assessment, individualized counseling, support training for family members or tutors, and brief follow-up visits.

In those 30 hours the student is shown the techniques, which will enable him/her to:

  • understand what needs to do to maintain or restore orientation when required
  • recognize when disoriented and what the triggers are that cause those disorientations
  • understand how disorientation alters perceptions and makes learning much more difficult
  • work with clay to eliminate confusion from trigger words
  • relax and release the tension that comes from concentrating too hard on achieving a task
  • control energy levels in his/her body so that he/she can adjust them to the appropriate level for any activity he/she is engaged in
  • create certainty, which will increase his/her self-confidence
  • possess a set of fundamental principles that he/she can think with and use in structuring his/her life and activities
  • feel that learning and discovery can be fun and interesting and that he/she has talents that he/she can use and share with others
  • gain a new picture of what it means to be dyslexic
  • do things and remember things in ways that work better and faster than the compulsive behaviors he/she has previously relied on.

On completion, students are given a kit containing the tools for Davis® Symbol Mastery, which they will continue to use until they have mastered all the trigger words that cause problems for dyslexic people.

The two-hour Support Training for the person working with the client at home is usually offered on Friday afternoon.

3) Davis® Math Mastery

It is a 5-day program that provides tools to correct problems learning math. This program is available as an alternative to the basic Dyslexia Correction program, or can be done as a supplemental program.
